Remain Insane

Ramblings of an animal loving, people hating, game enthusing, book nerd :D

About me April 12, 2012

Gemma likes to think of herself as a witty closet journalist, so decided she would share this with the world and create a blog. The plan was to wow viewers with her well researched and thought out posts, however after recent review it has been found that actually, Gemma just spew’s forth a whole load of verbal diarrhoea along with gifs and cat memes in an attempt to provide ‘LOLZ’. She entertained the idea of perhaps changing her blog content to something a little more sophisticated, but then got distracted by a video of dog dancing to ‘Shake That’, and hence has continued to fill her blog with her raving. And cats. She will occasionally talk about something serious here and there, but will mostly crap on like a lunatic.

Gemma amazingly managed to drag herself through 4 years of uni in an Animal Behaviour degree, and is now waiting on her official piece of paper so she can start regularly using the phrase ‘Trust me, I’m a scientist’. At 16, she managed to snag the best ‘first job’ ever and started working in an Aussie wildlife park, cuddling koalas, wrestling crocodiles and taming snakes, which she thought was pretty awesome. From this, she decided she would like to spend her life working towards animal care and conservation. She currently volunteers at a zoo making animal toys, and talks about her most favourite and loved animal; orangutans, every chance she gets. It must also be noted that Gemma has realised that she hates people, a lot. She likes to claim she isn’t antisocial, she just thinks people are stupid. Being an old fashioned nancy, one of Gemma’s favourite things is to rant about people who she secretly suspects to have an IQ of single digits.

– Additional useless details –

Video games and books are the best. Gemma has a cat called Jasper who acts like a dog. All things nerdy are absolutely wonderful. Big Bang Theory and Scrubs is the shit, full stop no returns. If you don’t think the Lion King is THE BEST DISNEY MOVIE EVER, don’t discuss this with Gemma, as she will become unnecessarily aggravated and violent. Gemma also apparently likes to talk about herself in third person.

Hi! 🙂 thank you so much for visiting my blog 🙂

  2. Amy-Lee Says:

hahahahahahhaha!! ahhhhhhh Gem, you make me laugh so much 🙂 you’re a nutcase – now a FAMOUS nutcase 😀

But this blog you’ve made is in-bedded with your personality through and through. Full stop, no returns.

You’ve done yourself proud my best girl. Not to mention me and everyone else who loves you to bits and who would be totally and utterly lost without you in this sad and pathetic world we have no choice but to share with the freaks that are the reason it’s so sad and pathetic.

You make this sad and pathetic place a bit more brighter and the people who love you more of a reason NOT to commit suicide every time they step out their front door lol.
For example: WHO WAS THE IDIOT THAT CREATED MURRAY BRIDGE??? If there weren’t a few decent people living here – I’d turn this joint into a big giant crater in the ground.

But still, nonetheless, my point is: I love you and I’m proud that you are my best friend (the only friend I’ve ever trusted with my life and had the strongest relationship with – we can never we pulled apart). We’ve been through so much shit together, but it’s just made us stronger and fortified our minds and hearts.

There’s nothing that can get in our way anymore; we’re one hell of a team, you and I 🙂

    We’re family 🙂

Thanks for the like, new to the blog thing but seems we share a dislike of… people, and a love for ranting lol Plus both acknowledge the indisputable superiority of the lion king, i didn’t even know this was open to debate.

    • Gemma Says:

      • 163saysnothingaboutme Says:

See that’s where i am tied. I love nothing more to socialise and hate not being social…. but equally people just annoy me… viscous circle. 😦
And no problem, i only follow 3 so far so expansion is needed. Maybe seeing how much you rant will make me feel less of a grump? who knows
Happy Pressing? or whatever its called around here

      • Gemma Says:

Ah the vicious circle, I think I’m stuck in that too! 🙂 People = its a love hate relationship 😛 Ranting is the best way to get things off your chest, so rant away! 😀 Some times I feel like a grump too, but there is so many people on WordPress that do the same, its nice to find all like minded people! 😀 I’m not actually sure what the phrase is, but I like that! Happy Pressing to you too! XD

  16. Ah, best. About. Ever! Big Bang Theory really is too legit. I’ve never actually found the combination of a book/gaming nerd before. All my friends are too intellectually challenged to read books, although they do game \o/ Anyhoo, I’d sign off with something in Klingon, but I don’t actually speak it 🙂

    • Gemma Says:

Haha thanks! 🙂 The only bad thing about being both is that most of the time I am torn and am not sure what I should be spending my time doing, too many good games and books! 😛

I’m glad you think so! 🙂 I agree, I actually do know some of these weird people that don’t like books or video games (the shock, the horror!) and I always wonder how they can live with themselves 😛 thanks for stopping by love! 🙂

  32. HAHA! I love the structure of your blog! This is hysterical. Definitely following!

  33. B Says:

I had no idea where to write this comment so thought this wold be the best place. I READ THE HUNGER GAMES. Can see why you changed the ending. For me, it felt like something was missing. I don’t really know how to explain it but it was like first and second books kind of pumped full of energy and then the third loses it a little, wins it back, loses it some more and the ending just seemed to sit uncomfortably between it all. Like it was too neat, or not enough was explained or something. I still enjoyed them though, and at the moment with revision upon me a nice enough, easy, ‘happy’ (debatable I know) ending is what my brain could work with. 🙂 x

    • B Says:

I realise that comment is punctuated terribly but I felt guilty for being on wordpress when I should be revising so I rushed while typing. My bad.

      • Gemma Says:

It’s all good, when I’m on a roll in the middle of a rant my english skills seem to fly out the window 😛 Good luck with your revision! 🙂 xx

      • Gemma Says:

Also, I think my wordpress has screwed up and while I replied to your first comment I don’t think it will give you the notification as it has just become a random comment of mine below this one -___- Stupid technology. Should be at the bottom of my ‘about me’ page though 🙂

    • Gemma Says:

I completely agree, the ending was just …… what’s the word I could use….. strange? on so many levels! I worked out exactly why it made me angry though 😛 (Spoiler alert ahead for those who have not read it :P) The character change in Katniss was too much for me, I know that it was showing that amongst such destruction and death someone can not stay unchanged, but Katniss went from being a heroine who was strong and unwavering to a snivelling character who had no fight in her. Peeta had a reason to be messed up, but the way Katniss was acting you would have thought it had been her that had been through months of torture. I wouldn’t have minded her depression and that bit of crazy if they had at least kept some original elements of her personality that we came to love, her strength, her determination, but all of it was gone and we were left with a completely different character. Also, after everything Katniss went through and all the brave things she did (I mean she was the cause of the rebellion and the face of the movement that ending up freeing Panem for gods sake!), she is just carted off as a looney for killing Coin and remembered as nothing more, rather than remebered for the amazing things she did! And finally, the thing that peeved me off the most….. Prim. The WHOLE SERIES began with Katniss sacrificing herself to save Prim’s life, AND FOR WHAT?! SHE STILL ENDS UP DYING,WHICH JUST SENDS KATNISS MORE INSANE, EVEN THOUGH SHE DIDNT EVEN SEEM TO CARE ABOUT HER SISTER IN THE LAST BOOK! OH AND GALE! WHO HAS BEEN KATNISS’S FRIEND FOR YEARS JUST PISSES OFF THE FACE OF THE PLANET WITHOUT A SO MUCH AS A HOW-DO-YOU-DO……. Phew, sorry, random outburst of anger 😛 Honestly, that ending for me almost rendered the whole series pointless, lucky I loved the first one so much that I’ll probably read it again sometime! 😛

      • B Says:

You’re so right! Katniss changed too much to still be Katniss, I think that’s what my problem was. I didn’t actually mind that she ended up with Peeta (apologies to anyone who’s not read the books). That kind of made sense to me after all they’d been through but yeah, the changes were too much in Katniss. Peeta, even though he changed, was still Peeta. Katniss just became some other character that was like a baby Katniss.

I feel your anger at Prim dying, I think that she was trying to show that Prim was always meant to die. At first at the hands of the Capitol and then at the suspected hands of Coin. Katniss couldn’t keep her safe forever. Still sucked though.

I feel like I could talk to you for hours about this! Paha but I am at work and must cut this short. Oh but one final thing, I hated that she was just carted off and shipped back to 12. I know she always would have because that was her home but still. And I wanted to know what happened with Gale – a high powered job is not enough information!

Will most probably read them again in a few years time but I still stand by our opinions although the first book is all kinds of awesome, as is the second. 🙂

      • Gemma Says:

Hahaha I think we could talk about this for days before we were done! 😛 I agree, there was just so many things about it that if they had been on their own they would have been acceptable, but putting all of them together (Katniss changing, Prim dying, Gale pissing off ect) changed the series far too much for my liking! Most books that I have read as of late have had less than satisfactory endings, which makes me super worried that my favourite series Obernewtyn (which the last book is coming out late this year….. I think….. the author is ridiculous with her release dates, shes been writing this book series since the 1980s! ARGH! But thats for another rant :P) is going to end badly which could quite possibly send me on a book burning rampage 😛
